| Moscow, mai 3rd, 2005 - RIA Novosti. ________________________ A group of Russian-Bellorussian scientists is working to create a transgenic goat capable of producing human milk, says the daily paper "Moskovski Komsomolets". In Mai, proteins of human origin (Lactoferrin) will be introduced into more than a hundred animal's DNA, according to Alexander Boudevitch from the Institute of Animal Husbandry (National Sciences Academy of Bellarus). Because it is part of human milk, Lactoferrin is a powerful antibiotic which protects new born babies against viruses and bacterial infections. In case of success, the transgenic goats's human milk will be used to feed them. It will also enable the treatments of cardio-vascular illnesses, declares Svetlnana Borinskaia, Biologist at The General Geneticts Institute of Vavllov, during an interview granted to Echo Radio Moscow. The tests are conducted within the scope of the Russian-Bellorussian BelRosTransgen project. Traduit le 27 novembre par patou.sinista@virgin.net |
